Joe - 200 yards of natural colored Romney/Rambouillet yarn.
Fleece Year: 2019
Color : #19 gray
WPI -11 (approximately heavy worsted weight)

Joe - known as "Little Joe" to us - is a handsome natural colored Romney/Rambouillet cross wether. Joe is very shy but he loves treats and will march right up if he thinks you have any good stuff.  Joe really shows his Rambouillet heritage in his dense, crimpy fleece and loose skinned "wrinkles". Joe is so covered in fleece that he looks like a teddy bear - and he has to be monitored for wool blindness. He nearly always "volunteers" to be sheared first by staying right by the gate to the shearing pen. Joe's first yarn is cocoa colored but future yarns are beautiful shades of blue grey. Joe is Jocie's son, Ezzie's grandson, and Jake's twin brother. You can watch Joe be sheared on our About page!

Relationships:
Jocie's son
Jake's brother

Welcome to Rose Butte Ranch, home of the Spoiled Sheep flock.
Our small ranch near Spokane, Washington is home to a sustainable "boutique" flock of natural colored sheep of many different breeds and beautiful colors. Our flock size is limited to keep our pasture healthy and productive.

Why is our flock Spoiled? We shear the flock every year at the beginning of summer, for their greatest comfort during both the hot and cold seasons of the year. They enjoy full access to pasture year-round, and are fed alfalfa hay grown in our own field during the winter. Fresh spring water flows freely into their trough, ensuring a constant supply of clean water. Their barn is cooled with a misting system and fan during the heat of the summer, and in winter is warmly bedded with straw. Treats from the garden, whether the results of our weeding efforts or cleaning up at the end of summer, are always a big hit. Last but certainly not least, they are guarded around the clock by our loving and dedicated Livestock Guardian Dog team. It's a good life for our sheep - and we think it shows in the beauty and quality of our yarn and fleece.

How is our yarn produced? Our sheep are sheared by a professional shearer who works with Spoiled Sheep staff to produce a quality fleece as gently as possible. The sheared fleece is carefully skirted twice by us to remove undesirable short fibers and vegetation. Sheep are dirty! Then it is washed, picked, carded, pin drafted, and spun locally by Fibers First in Post Falls, Idaho. We wish you joy creating with our "farm fresh" wool.
