Kogin or Koginzashi (こぎん刺し) is a counted stitch, almost like a cross between sashiko and cross stitch. It originally was done with cotton thread on broad weave linen cloth in Northern Japan. Kogin stitching is done only on the warp (horizontal part of the fabric) and produce beautiful geometric designs.
